1 John 2:28 NIV
And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
The Greek word for the NIV's "continue" is μένω (meno), which is translated as "abide" in many translations. This is the same root word Jesus used to describe the Father abiding in the Son (John 14:10), the Holy Spirit abiding in us (John 14:17), and us abiding in Jesus (John 15).
I think abiding takes time and attention. I want to be more intentional to be mindful of the presence of God and His goodness. I want to be mindful of my presence with/in Him. I need to make time and space to abide.
Father, please help me enjoy abiding with you. I love you.
