OT and NT glory, fire, and annointing; temple and Church

2 Chr. 6:40 "Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.41 "Now arise, Lord God, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.  May your priests, Lord God, be clothed with salvation, may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one. Remember the great love promised to David your servant."2 Chr. 7:1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying,
"He is good; his love endures forever."

I am impressed with the similarities between this event and the baptism of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The New Testament revelation is that we are God's temple, filled AND anointed with the Holy Spirit.

I think it is interesting that Moses asked God on the mountain to show him His glory, and God told Moses that He would let him see His goodness.  When God filled Solomon's temple with His glory, the people responded by praising God's goodness and love.

Heavenly Father, thank you for filling me with your Holy Spirit when you gave me faith in Christ.  Please anoint me today for your work, and may I be a tabernacle of your presence and demonstration of your goodness and love.  I love you, and I pray in the name of Jesus.
