death of me

2 Corinthians 2:5-6:18

Last week one of the Brothers that I meet with regularly challenged me to mutual encouragement with God's promises.  Here's another promise that we must cling to:

3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

I've recently been praying that the Lord would give me humility.  Well, I had several conversations this weekend through which He revealed more of my arrogance to me.  It's one of those things that is only remedied by crucifixion, which is a painful process.

4:5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.  7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me.  I am in desperate need of your saving grace, every day because I am such a knucklehead.  Lord, please deliver me from my selfish pride.  I pray that you will kill this flesh and raise up the Life of Jesus Christ in me.  O Lord, please renew a right spirit within me.  I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
