promises

Romans 15:1-16:27, Acts 20:7-38

In my opinion, the following verses suggest that we should be celebrating the Lord's Supper more frequently than we currently practice:

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. ...

Promises:

Romans 15:5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. ... 13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 20:32 "Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for your mercy and grace.  Lord, I pray that you will give me endurance and encouragement.  Lord, please give me and my wife a spirit of unity; please give our Bible study group a spirit of unity; please give our congregation a spirit of unity; and please give the whole Church a spirit of unity so that we may have one heart and mouth to glorify you.  Please fill us with your joy and peace, especially this Christmas season.  May we overflow with the hope of Christ and eternal life, by the power of the Holy Spirit.  I pray that we would be committed to you and the Word of your grace; please build us up into your Kingdom.  I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
