The Lord was speaking to me this morning about my work stress. Substitute "stress" for "worry" in this teaching from Jesus:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? ... But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:25-27, 33-34 NIV
This word may be from the Lord, but I think He wants us to really enjoy our relationship with Him and be excited about knowing Him and walking with Him. I think if we are more focused on enjoying the Lord and celebrating His goodness, then we will be less stressed about our work.
So, practically, how do we increase our enjoyment/satisfaction of Him?
Heavenly Father, thank you for your peace. Thank you for your joy. Thank you for the opportunity to rest in your goodness. I love you, and I pray in the name of Jesus.
