As salty as a sailor

Matthew 5:13‭-‬16 NIV
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.   "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

I was thinking about some of the concepts in Becoming a Contagious Christian that I taught back in Austin.  Salt requires proximity for it to be effective.  You have to get close.  How can I be aware of being salty with the people that I encounter today?

Light, on the other hand, can impact people far away.  How can I be like a lighthouse today?  How can I shine light to those in the darkness so that they can see the way to Life?

Heavenly Father, thank you for making me salt and light.  Holy Spirit, please help me be salty and bright today.  I love you, and I ask in the name of Jesus.
