many blessings

2 Kings 10-12, John 1

From yesterday's reading:

Luke 24:44He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."

45Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48You are witnesses of these things. 49I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

50When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.

I love how Christ pulled everything together - the Law, Prophets, and Psalms.  Jesus is in it all, and we are in it with Him.  I would have loved to have heard that conversation!

It's amazing how simple our objective is: preach the fulfillment of the Scriptures in Christ so that people can repent and receive forgiveness.  Then, you move forward to receive the power of the Holy Spirit so that you can, in turn, go and preach the truth - eventually to all nations.  And, we pretty much live the rest of our lives getting blessed by Christ as we worship and praise God.

Yesterday, it was a blessing to dedicate our son to the Lord on Mother's day.  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful wife who is a devoted mother to Beau.  I am amazed at how the Lord has blessed me: a beautiful wife and precious son, Christian family, salvation in Christ and spiritual gifts to be used in the Church, education and vocation to minister Christ to this world... He is so kind.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for being so kind to me.  Lord, I pray that I will leverage the resources you have given me to advance your Kingdom and make your Name great among the nations.  Only you can do this, so please use me as a vessel to pour out your Spirit for your glory.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
