Spiritual Warrior

1 Chronicles 10-12, John 6
David's Mighty Men
1 Chron. 11:10 These were the chiefs of David's mighty men—they, together with all Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as the LORD had promised ... 22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a valiant fighter from Kabzeel, who performed great exploits. He struck down two of Moab's best men. He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion. 23 And he struck down an Egyptian who was seven and a half feet tall. Although the Egyptian had a spear like a weaver's rod in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club. He snatched the spear from the Egyptian's hand and killed him with his own spear. ...

12:8 Some Gadites defected to David at his stronghold in the desert. They were brave warriors, ready for battle and able to handle the shield and spear. Their faces were the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles in the mountains. ... 14 These Gadites were army commanders; the least was a match for a hundred, and the greatest for a thousand. ... 32 men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; 33 men of Zebulun, experienced soldiers prepared for battle with every type of weapon, to help David with undivided loyalty-50,000; ... 36 men of Asher, experienced soldiers prepared for battle-40,000; 37 and from east of the Jordan, men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh, armed with every type of weapon-120,000. 38 All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

King David was a type of King Jesus.  Pharaoh was a type of Satan, and Egyptians were a type of the evil forces against us.  I want to be a Spiritual Warrior in Christ's Church; I want to fight to advance His Kingdom.

Eph. 6:10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

2 Cor. 10:3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

Heavenly Father, I confess allegiance to Jesus Christ, my Savior, my God, and my King.  And today, I commit to be a spiritual warrior in your Kingdom.  Lord, I know that this will necessarily involve conflict with the enemy, but by the Grace of Jesus Christ and His Victory over sin and death, you have made me an Overcomer in Christ.  I praise you, Lord.  May my life be in service to you, and may I train my son to be a spiritual warrior in your Kingdom.   I am your servant, may it be to me according to your Word.  May you receive all of the glory, and may your Name be praised among the nations because you are so kind to let us join you in your Victory over evil.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
