hope

Romans 8:18-39

22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. 24 We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. 25 But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Hope - waiting patiently and confidently.  I think that is a good definition.  I think it reinforces the marathon theme or hiking trek theme of the life of a disciple.  We need to keep moving forward steadily, stay hydrated, stay fueled, and stay with our Brothers and Sisters.  We are waiting expectantly for Christ to come get us (if we don't go meet Him first).

I think we will be blown away by how much glory there will be.  Like sunsets and lightning bolts.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your promises of taking care of us.  Thank you for your promises that we will be with you forever.  Lord, please help us see our current experiences in light of eternity, and please give us encouragement to see how the suffering that we are going through is small compared to how great it will be to be with you forever.  I love you, Lord, and I want to focus on living with you instead of being religious.  I ask in the name of Jesus Christ.
