paradoxes

Numero uno
Exodus 31:18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.

Galatians 3:19 What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator.
Huh?

Numero dos:
Mark 10:37  They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory." 38"You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?"  39"We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, ... 43 ... Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Galatians 3:26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
In Mark 10, was Jesus referring to drinking a physical cup?  Was Jesus referring to a physical baptism?  No, he was referring to suffering and "giving his life as a ransom for many."  In Galatians 3, is Paul referring to physical clothes?  Hence, physical baptism and celebrating the Lord's supper are solemn and sober commitments to give up our lives sacrificially.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the Law that shows us our need of a Savior to redeem us.  Lord, please help me drink your cup and share in your baptism of suffering; may my life be poured out as a sacrifice before you to give you glory.  I pray this in the Name of my Savior, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
