eternal purpose

Luke 17, Revelation 4

The end is near:

Lk 17:26 "When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day. 27 In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 "And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—29 until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.30 Yes, it will be 'business as usual' right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Q: And what will the elect be doing for eternity?
A: We will be celebrating the inexhaustible attributes of the Lord.

Rev 4:8 Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying,

"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—
the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come."

9 Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), 10 the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,

11 "You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
   For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased."

Our eternal purpose is to please His will.

Heavenly Father, you are worthy of praise beyond what I can give.  You are worthy of my exhausting praise.  I can't wait to see you and be overwhelmed in awe.  Lord, please draw me close to you now so that I will live a life of worship.  Please show me how to give you glory, honor, and power.  May you be pleased with my life as you consume my life in the life of your Son, Jesus.  I pray in His name.  Amen.
