another duality of Christ

I don't know if I've noticed this before: Jesus performs a miracle in front of the religious leaders at the beginning of Matthew 12 (heals a man with a lame arm), and they go out and discuss plans for killing Jesus.  Then at the end of Matthew 12, they ask Jesus for a miraculous sign to prove that He is from God.  How absurd!  They just saw Him heal someone!

I sure hope I don't look past what God is doing in my life and then turn around and ask God for a sign.  I'm sure I do it, though.  We are all so very fickle.  I need God to open my eyes to make me aware of what He is doing and show me how I can get in the game.

I really appreciated this quote in Matthew 12:18-21 of Isaiah 42:1-4:
 18"Here is my servant whom I have chosen,
      the one I love, in whom I delight;
   I will put my Spirit on him,
      and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
 19He will not quarrel or cry out;
      no one will hear his voice in the streets.
 20A bruised reed he will not break,
      and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
   till he leads justice to victory.
 21In his name the nations will put their hope."
So, here we see another duality of Christ.  To those who hate Jesus, He is their Judge; to those who love Jesus, He is their hope.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ.  Lord, thank you for showing your miraculous power through Jesus' ministry on earth, and thank you for showing your power and control in my life.  Lord, help me be aware of what you are doing in and through me.  Lord, help me be consciously following you and doing your will.  I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
