Abraham's prayer

I just realized the prayer!
Gen. 19:29 But God had listened to Abraham's request and kept Lot safe, removing him from the disaster that engulfed the cities on the plain.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your patient mercy and your faithfulness to our prayers.  You are so gracious to hear us and allow us to cooperate with you.  May your name be praised.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

  1. This account reveals a wonderful prayer of intercession. Actually, God visited Abraham because He needed someone on the earth who would be one with Him to pray for Lot. Often God has much on His heart that He wants to accomplish but we are too busy to spend time with Him to allow Him to open His heart to us so that we can pray back to Him what he reveals to us. In this case in Genesis, God's real need was to bring forth Christ. How does saving Lot from Sodom relate to bringing forth Christ? One of the women in the genealogy of Christ was Ruth, who happened to be a Moabitess. Although the means of bringing forth the Moabites through Lot was improper, God still needed Ruth (and thus Lot as well) in order to bring forth Christ. Today, God's need is still to bring forth Christ more and more in me, you and all of those we contact day by day until He gains the built up Body of Christ. How He needs our cooperation through prayer to accomplish this! May we give ourselves to be one with Him by entering into His heart, allowing Him to speak to us and responding through intercessory prayer! Amen!
