blessed pursuit

Psalm 121, 122, 123, 128, 130, 134, 135, 136

Psalms 121 and 128 speak to the wonderful experience we find in our pursuit of God - because Yahweh is good, and His love endures forever.

121:1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
       where does my help come from?
 2 My help comes from the LORD,
       the Maker of heaven and earth.
 3 He will not let your foot slip—
       he who watches over you will not slumber;
 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
       will neither slumber nor sleep.
 5 The LORD watches over you—
       the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
 6 the sun will not harm you by day,
       nor the moon by night.
 7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
       he will watch over your life;
 8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
       both now and forevermore.

128:1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
       who walk in his ways.
 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
       blessings and prosperity will be yours.
 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
       within your house;
       your sons will be like olive shoots
       around your table.
 4 Thus is the man blessed
       who fears the LORD.

With a million things going on at home, church, school, work ... I must stay focused on running the race that He has called me to.  I must stay focused on pursuing, loving, and honoring Him every moment.  I wrestle with whether or not I am over-committed or simply under-focused.  Christ calls me to come and die so that I may truly live.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that my life will be an offering poured out in loving devotion to you.  I pray that you will be always on my lips, that my mind will be consumed by knowing and loving you, and that my body will be spent in pure devotion to you.  I know that you will bless those who pursue you, but it is not your blessing that I seek.  I pray that you will reveal yourself to me!  Show me your face!  I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.
