more healing

Matthew 14, 1 Timothy 5

It wouldn't be that big of a deal to me if we weren't continually challenged throughout the New Testament to live, think, and act like Jesus.  And I would just leave it alone if (in addition to the Old Testament Prophets) Jesus was the only man who ever performed miracles.  But it seems to me like healing people was not an insignificant characteristic of Christ's ministry:

Mt 14:32 When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 Then the disciples worshiped him. "You really are the Son of God!" they exclaimed. 34 After they had crossed the lake, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 When the people recognized Jesus, the news of his arrival spread quickly throughout the whole area, and soon people were bringing all their sick to be healed. 36 They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.

Heavenly Father, I am ignorant, especially with regard to these matters of miracles and healings.  Your Word promises that if I ask you for wisdom, you will give generously. So please give me wisdom concerning these things.  I know that Jesus Christ is my model, and I want to be conformed to Him, and I want our congregation to be conformed to Him corporately, and I want the whole Body of Christ to be conformed to Him Corporately.  I feel like the congregations I have been a part of have taught your Word but not seen you show your power.  Maybe we are guilty of preaching doctrine and not really knowing you.  Please forgive us.  I know that you are not going to heal everyone all the time, and I know that at some point, you have appointed the end of each person's life.  But will you please stir our hearts and spirits to beg you to show your greatness and your power.  Holy Spirit, will you please prompt those whom you have blessed with the Gift of Healing to obey you in faith in exercising their gift for your glory.  Lord, I'm tired of preaching about your power and greatness but not seeing it displayed in our congregation.  Lord, please stir us seek you, to know you, and to ask you to do great things for the glory of your Name and the advancement of your Kingdom.  I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my Master.  Amen.
