desalination

God is in the desalination business!

Luke 6:43-45
43"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

James 3:2-12
2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.   3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.  7 People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, 8 but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. 9 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. 10 And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! 11 Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water? 12 Does a fig tree produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? No, and you can't draw fresh water from a salty spring.

So we see that this desalination is also known as sanctification whereby God is reducing the salt content of my heart so that I will be pure and holy like Christ, and out of me will flow streams of living water!

Practically, this is accomplished by daily walking closer to God, by the power of the Holy Spirit within me.

James 4:6-8
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
   "God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for not letting me stay the same.  Lord, thank you for cleansing my heart so that I can know you better and do what you want.  Lord, I pray that you will humble me so that I may resist the devil and come nearer to you.  Lord, please help me control my tongue, for your glory.  Lord, give me grace.  I ask these things in Jesus's Name.  Amen.

  1. Was reading some of your entries and came to desalination and so i had to say something. You could also turn that around and say that God is in the business of making you SALT and light of the earth. Its his desire for purity nonetheless.
