salvation and faith

Justification occurs when you believe (God throws the gavel and declares that you are in right standing with Him because of the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ).  Sanctification is the life-long process of God refining us look like Christ.

Hebrews 10:10, 14
10 For God's will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.
14 For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.

Because of Christ's obedience, we are able to approach God.

Hebrews 10:19, 21-22
19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.
21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God's house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ's blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Faith is the unseen yet critical factor that distinguishes the living from the dead.

Hebrews 10:39 - 11:1
39 But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.  1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the freedom you grant to enter your holy place because of Christ's sacrifice.  Lord, I praise you for considering me perfect and working to make me holy.  Thank you for initiating faith in my heart; thank you for the validity of your promises.  Lord, help me live faithfully.  I pray in Jesus's Name.  Amen.
