Hosanna

John 12
Jesus had become so popular from His previous miracles, especially raising Lazarus from the dead, that news of His travel plans preceeded His arrival. Thus, eager anticipation from believers and general crowd/spectator psychology culminated at the Triumphal Entry. What fascinates me in this passage is the central connection to SALVATION. Palm branches were directly associated with the Festival of Shelters, which was implemented to remind the Jews of the Lord saving them from Egypt. The word "hosanna" is a joyous expression/request that literally means, "Save Now!"

So it is quite clear, that Jesus's entrance to Jerusalem is clouded in atmosphere celebrating SALVATION.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, I praise you for being the King of Israel. I bless you for coming in the name of the Lord to redeem us. Lord, I pray, "hosanna," asking you to save me from myself each day. Lord help me follow you and lead others to follow you. Amen.
