evangelism

Building on previous blog posts:

According to Proverbs 19:5, 9, 22, and 29, we see that God is just, and there will be judgement of sin.  We also observe that God particularly disgusts dishonesty.  Perhaps this is because Jesus is the "Way, Truth, and Life" and Satan is the "Father of Lies".
5 A false witness will not go unpunished, nor will a liar escape.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will be destroyed.
22 Loyalty makes a person attractive. It is better to be poor than dishonest.
29
Punishment is made for mockers, and the backs of fools are made to be beaten.

According to Proverbs 19:16 and 19:23, we see that the righteous way is life, and the disobedient way is death.
16 Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death.
23 Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.

In Romans 9 and 10, Paul reiterates the principle that being a physical descendant of Abraham does not make you a true Jew.  A True Jew is a "child of the Promise" when he/she places his/her Faith in Jesus Christ.  Romans 10:8-15 is one of my favorite passages because it explains the simplicity of Faith in Christ and evangelism:

8 In fact, it says,

   "The message is very close at hand;
      it is on your lips and in your heart."

   And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced." 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

 14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, "How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!"

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise you for being just.  I praise you for always being honest.  Thank you for showing me mercy through Faith in Christ Jesus.  Thank you for the missionaries who are sent to preach the Good News.  Please bless and protect the missionaries that share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Lord, please send more workers to the plentiful harvest. Amen.
