Proverbs 17:24 says, "Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool's eyes wander to the ends of the earth."
This reminds me of Hebrews 12:1-2, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne. "
Romans 5 and 6 are so encouraging because they explain the joy of the Gospel of Christ. We were enemies of God, and Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Through Faith in Christ, we have eternal life and salvation from the death penalty we inherited from Adam's sin. Praise the Lord for His wonderful mercy!
Romans 6:12-14 ties in with the Proverbs and Hebrews passages: 12 Do not let sin control the way you live;[ a] do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. 14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the wonderful gift of mercy, eternal life, and fellowship with you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Please help me keep my eyes fixed on Christ, Who is the embodiment of wisdom. Lord, please help me give myself completely to you. Please glorify yourself through my life.
