I think the theme of today's reading goes well with our Bible study topic tomorrow (Elijah running from Jezebel). I really tried to pray these Psalms as if they were from my own heart. I have recently begun to try to pray through the Scripture every morning instead of only reading; I have observed that praying Scripture is so much more substantial of an experience.
Here are a few of my favorites this morning:
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
9:1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
4 One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.
8 My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"
Your face, LORD, I will seek.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that you will reveal yourself to me. Lord, please let me be in harmony with your will. I want to seek you with all of my heart. Please mold my attitude, even now, to be consistent with who you are. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
